Robert Potwora writes article in Water Quality Products Magazine

The March issue of Water Quality Products magazine contains an article written by Robert Potwora titled, “The ABCs of Activated Carbon”.  The characteristics of activated carbons produced from coconut shell, bituminous coal, sub-bituminous coal and lignite coal are covered in detail.  The ash content is a very important parameter for activated carbons.  Some coal based activated carbons may contain ash greater than 30%.  Selecting a purer coal and/or washing the coal based activated carbon can reduce ash levels to 10 – 15%.  Whereas coconut shell activated carbons like Sabre series® C grade have an ash content of 2 – 3 % without washing.  The lower ash content and washing helps minimize impurities that may leach off the activated carbon into the water being treated.   Selecting the right particle size is also critical for proper performance of point-of-use (POU) and point-of- entry (POE) carbon systems.

WQA Aquatech USA 2012 Events for Carbon Resources

Robert Potwora, Technical Director, will be presenting at The Water Quality Associations annual Aquatech USA tradeshow and convention this year.  The event will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 6-9th.  Robert will be discussing Activated Carbons for PPCP’s and EDC’s.  This presentation will focus on this large group of emerging contaminants (Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) and Endocrine-Disrupting Compounds (EDCs)) which continue to gain prominence and many are not yet regulated in drinking water.  You can sit in on this presentation on Wednesday, March 7th at 1:00 pm in the Room Aqua Stage One on the tradeshow floor.

In celebration of our 15th year in business and for making Fortune 500/5000 List of fasting growing privately held companies in 2010, we are having a Black and White themed party at the Las Vegas Hotel attached to the Convention Center on Thursday evening.  Please stop by our booth (number 334) for a formal invitation.  We had a lot of fun at our 10-year event and hope that our 15-year event is even better.
