Product Specifications - Sabre Series

The sabre series™ line of activated carbon products consists of a wide range of base adsorbents, each having it’s own unique properties that can enhance adsorption performance in specific applications. The following list provides an outline of the characteristics for each sabre series‘ product. Please click on the series tab of interest to review data sheets within that series. Since each product can be acid washed, water washed, impregnated or screened to a custom mesh size, this is only a partial listing of our products. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your specific application or system.
“A” Series:
A low density, high activity coal that has low water solubles and good hardness. With an approximate density of 20-23 pounds per cubic foot, it is about 3/4 the weight of a bituminous coal and therefore on a volume fill basis, much less carbon is needed. It has a very good pore size distribution of macro, meso and micro pores, which lends it to work extremely well in adsorbing heavy molecular weight compounds and color, while also having a very good capacity for lighter weight compounds.

“B” Series:
After years of research and development, our imported bituminous coal base product meets AWWA, and WQA standards as is NSF Standard 61 certified. It has high activity in the micropore and meso pore range, good hardness, low dust, and no floaters.

“C” Series:
Our “C” product is made from Sri Lankan coconut shell and produced to achieve a carbon tetrachloride activity (CTC) range of 45% to 95%. The ability to produce such a high microporous surface area is very limited, not a lot of manufacturers can do this on a regular basis. It also has a high hardness and low water soluble ash. Many C series activated carbon products used for POU/POE applications are NSF 42 certified.

“D” Series
: This is the first bamboo based activated carbon available in powder, granular and pellet form. This unique base provides a distinctive pore distribution and pore volume. It works well for color removal, solvent recovery and pressure swing adsorption requirements. This product also has a low density requiring less product than typical coal or coconut based applications.

“F” Series:

This is a rayon based activated carbon fiber (ACF) that has extremely high surface area (in some cases greater than 2000 BET). It has a very uniform pore structure (80% of pores sizes ranging from 1.0-2.0nm) and has good adsorption kinetics. It is chemically stable and has a high coefficient of electronic and thermal conductivity. This makes it easily regenerated and because it is a fabric it can be easily formed to fit any design.

“I” Series:

The “I” series covers our line of polyurethane, polypropylene and cellulose impregnated activated carbon media. The carbon content can range from 30-60% by weight. With the cellulose grade, we produce layers of corrugation and/or netting to customized lengths and widths. “L” Series:Lignite carbon with high molasses number is excellent for applications where color removal is important such as amine/glycol service, dry cleaning cartridges, wastewater, and fine chemical production.

“N” Series:
The Natural Char product is an aged bone activated char that lends itself to adsorb heavy metals, fluorides, and iron. It has a low total surface area, but for certain compounds, this product outperforms bituminous, lignite or coal base products.

“P” Series:
Petroleum pitch base beaded activated carbon (BAC) exhibits practically zero ash, extremely low dusting and greater than 1000 m2/g BET surface area. “W” Series: Our wood base activated carbons are available as steam or acid activated carbon. They have a high surface area in the meso and macro-pore range and work very well in the purification of many food grade products. Some wood products are Kosher certified.
